Jammin' at Gabriele's with Peter Appleyard

In the early eighties, Peter Appleyard booked me in the 'Lytes' Jazz Club at Toronto's
Royal York Hotel in the afternoons and the Chelsea Inn's 'Chelsea Bun' piano bar in the evenings.
At The Chelsea, I had the privilege of listening to Peter's big band between my sets when his orchestra took over to provide dancing for the folks.
Later, Peter was playing a summer night concert in London's Victoria Park. After his performance he dropped in to Gabriele's to play a 2:00 a.m. jam set with us.

Peter Bacon with Helen Hill and me on another occasion at Gab's
Gabriele's was actually comprised of two renovated houses close together with an overhead walkway from one 'house' to the other.
The dining room was in one and the jazz club was in the other. Peter and I took turns playing both rooms which was a perfect arrangement.
Peter sat in on Todd's drums for a few tunes too!
